Orphan CHildren Home

In our project area, a significant number of children find themselves in challenging circumstances, including orphans, semi-orphans, and those living on the streets. The issue of orphanhood and street life is exacerbated by factors such as urbanization, industrialization, the unfortunate loss of parents to HIV/AIDS, the remarriage of deserted, widowed, or divorced women who are unable or unwilling to care for their children, as well as familial conflicts, the absence of love and security within households, and unwanted pregnancies resulting from trafficking and the sexual exploitation of girls.

These adverse conditions contribute to a distressing situation where children are left without the necessary care and support. Consequently, many of these vulnerable children become entangled in activities like rag packing, pickpocketing, and engaging in anti-social and criminal behavior. Recognizing the urgent need to address this issue, our vision involves integrating these children back into mainstream society by offering them care, support, and protection through our Orphan Children Home.

Helping the Lepers

At ACOC, we stand united in our mission to bring hope, dignity, and healing to those affected by leprosy in India. With compassion as our guiding force, we strive to eradicate stigma, provide medical care, and create a supportive community for individuals facing the challenges of leprosy.

Leprosy, a curable yet often misunderstood disease, affects thousands in India. Beyond the physical symptoms, individuals with leprosy face societal exclusion, discrimination, and a lack of access to proper healthcare. Our organization is committed to addressing not just the medical aspects of leprosy but also the social and emotional dimensions that individuals and families grapple with.

How You

CAN HELP

Providing food, clothing, education, shelter, medical assistance, love and hope to those in need

Why are there so many orphans in india?

Poverty

India is home to a significant population living below the poverty line. Families struggling with extreme poverty may find it challenging to provide for their children, leading to abandonment or orphanhood.

Health Issues

Diseases such as HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and other illnesses disproportionately affect certain communities in India. The loss of parents due to these diseases can leave children orphaned.

Natural Disasters

India is prone to natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes, and cyclones. These disasters can result in the loss of lives and displacement of families, leaving children orphaned or separated from their parents.

Conflict and Violence

Certain regions in India experience conflicts, violence, and political instability. Children may become orphaned as a result of armed conflict, communal violence, or domestic violence.

Social Stigma

Social issues such as caste discrimination, gender inequality, and the stigma associated with certain illnesses can lead to ostracization of families and children. In some cases, children may be abandoned due to social stigma attached to their family’s circumstances.

Trafficking and Exploitation

Children in vulnerable situations are at risk of being trafficked or exploited for labor, begging, or commercial purposes. Trafficking can result in children being separated from their families and becoming orphaned.

Lack of Access to Education and Healthcare

Limited access to education and healthcare services in certain regions of India can exacerbate the vulnerabilities of children. Without proper healthcare, children may lose parents to preventable diseases, while lack of education can perpetuate cycles of poverty.
